Mary and Stephen both have a wide variety of clinical interests including men’s health, women’s health, sports injuries and other musculoskeletal problems, respiratory disorders, gastro-intestinal disorders, recovery from colds and flu, improving immunity, cancer recovery, and mental-emotional health.

Dr. Mary Garvey

Mary has been practicing and lecturing in Chinese medicine for 36 years. She has a PhD in International Studies (in TCM), a Master degree in Health Science (TCM), and diplomas and certificates from her clinical acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine studies in Sydney, Nanjing, Shanghai and Beijing. She has authored around 50 TCM publications, including refereed journal and conference papers, books and book chapters.

Stephen graduated from The New Zealand School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (NZSATCM) with a Bachelors degree of Applied Science (Acupuncture) and a Diploma in Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) and has been in clinic since 2015. Stephen has also graduated from Wellpark College with a certificate in relaxation massage (Swedish) and has an interest in musculoskeletal conditions along with a strong interest in internal medicine and woman’s health. Stephen is currently undertaking a Master’s of Health Science at Auckland University this year with a keen interest in the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine versus biomedicine, and long term looking to undertake a PhD in Chinese Medicine. He will still be working in the clinic full-time.

As Acupuncture NZ (AcNZ) registered practitioners and ACC treatment providers, Mary and Stephen have agreed to follow the AcNZ Code of Professional Ethics, the Health and Disability Commissioner’s Code of Rights, and the Privacy Commission’s Privacy Act.
